Christmas Gift Shoppers Online Appear to Show a Clear Bias for Men Over Women and Children
Dallas, TX (ContentDesk) December 21, 2005 -- A study conducted recently shows that more Internet shoppers appear to favor buying Christmas gifts for men more than buying gifts for women and surprisingly even children.The study (carried out by http://www.Amazing-Christmas-Ideas.com) reveals that during this Christmas season there is an estimated 969 searches for phrases related to Christmas gifts for men on all the major search engines on a daily basis.Thats 42.5% more often than phrases related to Christmas gifts for women, which are searched for an estimated 680 times a day on average during the current holiday season.On the surface these results appear to show that men are the preferred recipients of Christmas gifts. But Keith Hardaway of Amazing-Christmas-Ideas.com sees it a little differently. He says, To me this just shows that women are more dedicated to finding great gifts for their husbands or boyfriends than men are about finding gifts for their wives or girlfriends. Hardaway backs that theory up with examples of other phrases searched for by Internet Christmas shoppers. For example, the phrase Christmas gifts for him is searched for about 11.5% more often than Christmas gifts for her. He also found a total of 76 different variations of phrases related to Christmas gifts for men. For women there were only 55 different variations of phrases.But, the really surprising thing that came from this study is the number of times Internet shoppers search for phrases related to Christmas gifts for kids.
During a holiday in which our culture focuses so much attention on making things special for children the logical assumption would be that the majority of gift related searches would be for kids. But, thats not the case. Phrases related to Christmas gifts for kids/children are searched for just an estimated 904 times a day on average. Thats about 7.2% less often than Christmas gifts for men. The results of this study were compiled by gathering large lists of phrases used by Internet searchers on lesser-known search engines then projecting the totals according to their share of daily Internet searches. Therefore these numbers are close but not absolute.Here are some other interesting results that came out of this Internet study: Homemade Christmas gifts has been searched for an estimated average of 818 times daily.The phrase Corporate Christmas gifts has been searched for an estimated average of 208 times a day this holiday season.When it comes to searches for Christmas gifts for dogs vs.
